Are you ready to have amazing and beautiful skin? Of course you are! We all want to look and feel our best. We all want radiant and youthful skin. We want it, but how do we get it?

Beginning in my teen years, I struggled with my skin. Oily, acne, uneven skin tone, dark circles, large pores. You name it, I dealt with it for many years.

When I say I struggled for years, I mean it. I struggled for at least fifteen years. The reason I’m sharing that with you is to let you know that I’ve been there. I’ve had the self-consciousness of my skin and wanting to cover it up with a ton of make-up. I’ve had the embarrassment of constant acne. I've received comments regarding my dark circles.

But then I did something about it. I researched and changed a few things in my life. And that’s when my skin started clearing up and getting healthier and brighter. That’s when I started getting complimentary comments and questions about my skin. And since then, people are shocked when I tell them my age (43!).

So, throughout the post, there will be pictures of me without any make-up. I’m doing that so you can see what you can achieve. And if I can have healthy and clear skin, so can you! Let me tell you how.

In this blog, you will learn:

·       5 solutions to healthier skin

·       A simple and affordable skin care routine

·       Amazing products to achieve the skin you dream about

So, if you’re ready to get that beautiful, healthy skin, and do it with natural solutions and products, let’s get started!

1.        Water

We all know that water is vital to our health. Without it, we simply can’t live. Yet so many of us are living in a state of chronic dehydration.

Water regulates our body temperature, protects organs, tissues, and joints, and carries nutrients and oxygen to our cells. But what does that have to do with the condition of our skin? Well, dehydration can make your skin more vulnerable because it’s not getting the nutrients it needs to stay healthy, which makes it prone to skin disorders and premature wrinkling.

Water is so important to skin health. It helps flush out toxins, improve blood flow, and reduces puffiness and inflammation. It also helps reduce acne, dark circles, and improves skin complexion and texture. All the things I struggled with.

Without realizing, I was chronically dehydrated for years. I had no idea this was contributing to all my skin issues; among other issues I was dealing with. I had dry, brittle, and thinning hair. I had ridges in my fingernails. Not to mention other health issues.

Once I learned the benefits of water and made sure I was staying fully hydrated, all those problems started going away. And they can start going away for you, too, my friend. Just start drinking that water!

 2.        Remove Toxins

Toxins can come from all over-our environment, diet, and lifestyle choices. They create harmful free radicals, which damage the skin inside and out.

Some signs of toxicity in the skin include dehydrated, dry flaky skin, regular flare-ups of acne and eczema, change in skin color, poor skin tone, and fine lines and premature wrinkles.

If you suffer from any of those listed above, you may be wondering how to get those toxins out of your body. A few things to start doing are stop smoking if you are a smoker, drinking more water, sweating, and trying a detox diet.

The sooner you get those harmful toxins out, the better you will feel on the inside. Then it will start to show through your radiant skin.

3.        Reduce Stress

Sometimes that’s easier said than done. But taking the time to reduce your stress level is not only good for your skin, but for your entire body.

When we get into situations that cause the fight-or-flight response to be activated, our skin is affected by the sympathetic nervous system. To protect us from harm, the blood vessels in the skin contract tightly. If we continue to stay in a state of chronic stress, the. in will diminish the blood supply, which impairs its ability to release toxins and obtain the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. In turn, that’s when you start seeing acne, itchy skin, skin disorders, fine lines, and premature wrinkles.

There are many ways to start de-stressing. Look into some self-care ideas or check out my blog 8 Ways to Take Care of Yourself Naturally for some tips to get you started.

4.        Supplements

Supplements may be needed if you are having chronic issues with your skin, nails, and hair. Even slight deficiencies can cause trouble.

Vitamins C, D, and E are useful antioxidants for the skin. Vitamin A is needed for maintaining and repairing the skin. If the problem lies more in the nails and hair, the B vitamin biotin is highly recommended.

As we age, silica levels decrease. Silica helps with the elasticity of our skin. Copper, zinc, and vitamin C will help with the elasticity.

It is important to have these vitamins in our daily diet, but for some of us, that can be difficult, and supplements may be needed. But before you start, make sure to do your research and take the correct dosage. Too much of some can be dangerous. If you have any concerns, consult with your doctor to do blood work to see if you may be deficient in any of the vitamins listed above.

5.        Establish a Skin Care Routine

A skin care routine doesn’t have to be a long, drawn-out process that you really don’t have time to do. We are busy being mothers, career women, spouses/partners, and a multitude of others. At the end of the day, I get it, you just want to go to bed. That’s why the routine I’m getting ready to share with you is short, simple, and affordable.

First, you need to make sure you wash your make up off each night. That alone will help your skin significantly. Use a mild soap, such as the Charcoal Facial Bar for oily skin, which won’t irritate your skin. This facial bar is made of extra-virgin olive oil, avocado oil, caster oil, and coconut oil. Along with coconut milk, mango butter, and activated charcoal. You’re getting an anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antimicrobial soap that will nourish, hydrate, and detox your skin.

Next, apply toner all over your face and neck. Toners can further remove dirt, oil, and makeup that the soap may have missed. They minimize pores, smooth rough patches, improve skin tone, and protect the skin. Try this amazing one, Tone Me! if you don’t know where to start. This toner will even out your skin’s PH by using cane-derived alcohol and witch hazel as astringents, and rose petals for soothing, anti-aging, and inflammation.

After applying toner, moisturize. My favorite is Moisturize Me. I’ll admit, it took me a couple times to get used to it, but now I love it. And a little goes a long way so you get your money’s worth. You can choose one for oily skin that uses calendula to nourish and smooth, and dandelion as an anti-inflammatory; one for dry skin that uses chamomile to nourish and help with inflammation, and rose petals; or a combination one that uses amla berries with vitamin C and antioxidants and comfrey leaves that heal dry and damaged skin. Moisturizers are commonly used to reduce fine lines and make the skin appear smooth and soft.

Once my moisturizer is applied, I use a roller to make sure it gets deep into my skin to reap all the benefits the moisturizer has to offer.

After establishing a daily routine, you can start throwing in some extras. Exfoliants, such as Exfoliating Cleanser, are great to add a couple times a week. And a mask like the Lavender Green Clay Mask is great for weekly treatments.

6.        Products

Now that you have my five solutions to better skin, I’ll share the links to the products I mentioned above, plus a few that you may enjoy! You’ll notice they all, except the roller, come from the same company. I love this company and what they stand for. Plus, I don’t have to worry about what I’m putting on my skin or in my body.
